TX/OU Weekend = Fat Fails Galore

I knew going into this past weekend I was probably going to be writing a FAIL post as soon as I got home…and I was right! This past weekend was a holiday for those of us with a love for the Texas Longhorns. This holiday takes the form of an entire weekend in Dallas centered around the TX vs OU football game. It’s one of the biggest rivalries in college football and we look forward to it all year long.

The game is held at the Cotton Bowl every October amidst the Texas State Fair. Now, normally the food you are faced with at a football game is not altogether fatroll friendly but when you go to a game that is held in conjunction with a fair you are on a whole other level when it comes to unhealthy foods. AND, this is the Texas State Fair. Everyone knows everything is bigger and better in Texas…and the fried foods at the fair live up to this!

What kind of fried foods you ask? Well…

Corn Dogs
Fried Twinkies
Fried Oreos
Fried Butter
Fried Snickers
Funnel Cakes
Fried Apple and PB on a Stick
Fried PBJ&Banana Sandwich
Deep Fried Pizza
Fried Cookie Dough
Fried Banana Split
…and the list goes on and on

Now, while I did partake of a funnel cake I didn’t eat ANYTHING else at the fair. I didn’t even have a beer or their famous lemonade…just water! I think this post should be considered a fail/win post for that reason.

In addition to the fair, though, I went to Mere’s parents’ house on Friday night where Kimmy fed us Oklahoma Sucks beer, champagne, pork tenderloin, potatoes, bread, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate birthday cake. Oh, and Kelsey and I went to brunch on Sunday and I had eggs benedict, waffles, and cheesecake.

Whew! That’s my confession…I got it off my chest…forgive me! This week’s weigh-in may not be any better than last week’s, but it was well worth it to celebrate the holiday affectionately known as TX/OU Weekend! Hook em!
