Marianne, we are two peas in a pod. I too, have had one Ginger Ale slip-up and a few sparkling water slip-ups here and there. My God, that was the best Ginger Ale I've ever had!

That SodaStream thingy looks awesome! When I was at the MoMA Cafe I ordered water and the girl asked me if I wanted that with or without "gas". I was like "excuse me"? Apparently it's the norm to add carbonation to your water nowadays. I felt like an uncultured Texan when I had no clue what she was talking about.

I, too, have given up soda(save for a Ginger Ale slip-up here and there). I'm a huge fan of Dr. Pepper, so I'm a little sad sometimes.

I've gone the way of Perrier or Pellegrino for the fizziness I seek. We do have this SodaStream contraption (http://j.mp/cwXZMw) at work, but I have yet to try it out. The guys love it here, though.
