I tend to be really bad at guessing calories in food while eating out, so I decided to invest in a copy of “Eat This, Not That” for some guidance. It offers sample menus and compares food options from a variety of chain restaurants, holiday food temptations and everyday items to help you make better choices. Here are some of the more surprising finds:
- Eat This: McDonalds Big Mac (540 calories, 29 grams of fat)
- Not That: Burger King Whopper with cheese (760 calories, 47 grams of fat)

Eat This: McDonalds Quarter Pounder, no cheese (410 calories, 19 grams of fat)
- Not That: McDonalds Premium Grilled Chicken Club (570 calories, 21 grams of fat)
- Eat This: Pumpkin Pie Slice (465 calories, 25 grams of fat)
- Not That: Pecan Pie Slide (678 calories, 51 grams of fat)
