50 in 30 Update
As I mentioned before, in order to get myself back into running and jumpstart my cardio workouts, I have challenged myself to run 50 miles in 30 days. I am officially 15 days into my 30 day challenge and I have run…
Drumroll please…
33 miles!!!
Not too shabby for a girl who had only been running once a week (maybe).
I have to say, this is a great challenge for anyone looking to a) Get a good cardio workout, b) Step up your running, and c) Keep you inspired to get up and move. There have definitely been days in the past two weeks when I wanted to go straight home after work and chillax, but I didn’t. I thought to myself, “I have a challenge to stick to and the weather is beautiful…there is no reason not to run!”. Now maybe this wouldn’t be enough to inspire others to leave work on a Friday to go for a 4 mile run but it works for me (e.g. what I did just this last Friday).
Oh, and something I’m doing to push myself even more is timing myself. I used to just go for a run and not worry about timing because as far as I was concerned it didn’t matter how fast I went, it was just a miracle that I was running. Now that I’m trying to constantly keep my body guessing, I’ve found that timing myself really keeps me motivated. That last 0.3 mile is brutal but when you look down at your watch and notice that you’re 30 seconds ahead of your last time you are inspired to hustle just a little longer.
My Race for the Cure time is proof that this challenge has really helped jumpstart my running program. I recommend you do the same if you are looking for a new way to kick your butt into gear.

P.S. The weather is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L right now so this is the best time of the year to take on running! Hint hint!
