Football Fails Galore

This weekend Mere and I both went to the Big 12 Championship game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.  I knew going into it this would be a FAIL-filled weekend, but I had no idea.  Here they are in chronological order:

Friday- I was good all day and even when we stopped at Quizno’s for dinner I managed to have a small sandwich on wheat with baked lays.  I felt pretty good until we pulled into the Czech Stop.  Yup.  Any UT student gets a twinkle in their eye when you mention the Czech Stop.  This random little bakery/gas station has the best kolaches in Texas!  You can’t drive to Dallas without stopping there.  Oh, and they had pumpkin kolaches!!!  Did I cave?  Heck yeah I did!  You all know my affinity for all foods pumpkin so I HAD to have one.  And to top it off, I got a maple twist.  Just think cinnamon roll only easier to eat while sitting in the back of a Jeep Wrangler.

FAIL #1 & #2- Pumpkin Kolache and Maple Twist

Friday/Saturday- Once we got to Dallas it was all about going out so we went to Uptown.  In the span of 3 hours I managed to drink 6 beers and therefore get rather intoxicated.  Considering I’ve been eating rather healthily and drinking rather little, this was a FAIL on many levels.  I drank 2 Modelo Especials and 4 Blue Moons.  Blue Moon is one of the WORST beers out there calorie-wise so this was a definite FAIL.  Then, on top of it all I ended up having a hangover the next day that led me to eat a ridiculous amount of food at Lakewood Country Club’s brunch on Saturday morning.

FAIL #3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9- 6 Beers and a Ridiculous Brunch (this should count as many FAILS but I lost count)

Saturday-  One word:  Tailgating.  We got out to Jerryworld (aka Cowboys Stadium and all the parking lots around it) about 5 hours before the game started and did what all true Texans do…tailgated.  That means we sat around drinking, eating sausage wraps, and singing the Eyes of Texas for hours.  Need I say more?

Fail #10 & #11- Sausage Wrap and Chips

Sunday- Apparently brunch does not bode well for me.  By the time we all got moving after the painful game from the night before it was already too late for breakfast so we did brunch once again.  We went to John’s, where the sign boasted “Good Food Since 1972″.  This place was an awesome, whole-in-the-wall diner that served huge omelets, hamburgers, and chicken fried steak.  No bueno for the fatroll.  I ordered the veggie omelet, served with two biscuits, hashbrowns, and a pancake.  So bad and yet so good at the same time.

Fail #12, 13, 14, & 15- Omelette, Biscuits, Pancake, and Hashbrowns

So I managed a good round number of 15 FAILS.  This was a great weekend that made me reminisce my days in college where FAILS didn’t even register because they happened so regularly and in such great numbers.  Oh how times of changed because now I’m back to my WW points and my whole body aches from sleeping on an air mattress two nights in a row and riding to Dallas and back sandwiched in the backseat of a Jeep Wrangler.  Good times!  …but only on special occasions.

P.S.  Congrats to our beloved Longhorns for making it to the National Championship.  Hook em!

  1. I recall you had a certain affinity for brunch on the cruise as well. Maybe you should just avoid the concept of brunches in the future ;)
