50 miles in 30 Days
It’s a new round so I need a new challenge to keep me focused and on my toes. The quickest way to stop weightloss is to get into a rut where your body adapts to your workout schedule. This is the rut I was in for a few years until we started this brilliant challenge.
During Round 1 I did yoga, pilates, and fitness camp to help me melt away my fatroll. I plan to continue rotating between these activities because they still kick my butt but I want to mix it up a bit with some cardio. A year ago Jenni and I trained for the a half marathon so I was running some crazy mileage. Funnily enough, we actually gained weight during the training because we thought we could eat anything we wanted since we were running everyday. WRONG! Let me tell ya, eating massive breakfast tacos after a Saturday morning run pretty much voids all of that blood, sweat, and tears!
Needless to say, when I started out this year the heaviest I’ve ever been it was difficult for me to run. Now that I’m 35 lbs lighter it’s crazy for me to look back and imagine running with that extra weight. About halfway through the competition I started really noticing a difference in how light I felt on my feet. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
So now that I’m in a lighter place in my life I want to get back into running. I’m a German and I hail from my family so running is anything but natural for me. That’s why I do it. It’s a challenge. A. Big. One. Inspired by my friends Kim and Ivette (holla!), I have decided to run 50 miles in 30 days. I figure this will jumpstart my entry back into the wonderful world of running and will help me lose the few extra pounds I still want to take off. Plus, I will finish up my 30 days just before Thanksgiving so I figure it will give me a little wiggle room to work with to keep within the 2% range of my final weigh-in.
Wish me luck! I started yesterday and am already 4 miles in. Only 46 to go before November 19th!
Vintage me running my first 5k in December 2007.
