Out of Control x 2

If one @fatroll wasn’t enough, this evening I decided to embark on a second @fatroll contest with my husband @ballstrap.

Some background first. Back in college, Justin and I shared a history class together sophomore year. An unspoken competition existed between the two of us (well actually, mainly me) to try and get the best grade in the class. We both ended up with As; unfortunately, Justin’s A was higher than mine. It was also the only class we took together, by design.

Flash forward to a friendly game of Scrabble about two years ago. After an unfortunate mis-communication (where I accused Justin of cheating with “waltzes” on TWO triple word scores), Scrabble was banned from the house.

After our weekly @fatroll strategy meeting with @lovelyladyash and @msknowitall, I realized I needed some new motivation to get back on my A game. The last two weeks (which included a trip to Los Angeles that involved WAY too much food and several cupcakes) has involved too much food and not enough working out.

Knowing my husband and I love a “friendly” competition, I suggested we have our own @fatroll contest to see who can lose the most weight by December 31. But there needed to be some additional motivation than just being claimed winner.

So along with the title of winner and the exclusive use of “You Suck and I Rule” (a common phrase we say to each other to piss the other one off — clearly we’re dorks), the loser has to read five books of the winner’s choice.

Additional background: I love chic-lit and well, that’s really the only genre I prefer. Justin hates fiction and prefers conspiracy theory and historical novels. This is true punishment to read the other’s book choices.

So I’ll be using the blog to keep everyone up-to-date on this secondary competition. And if tonight’s workout at the gym was anything to gauge the ultimate results of this contest, Justin’s going to fall in love with Jane Austen’s writing by the third book, I’m sure of it.
